The real juiciness of the Heart Art process comes in the reflection writing done once the art-making is complete: where you sit with whatever you have created, and ask questions. Our inherent creativity sits close to our inner wisdom and intuition. So when we do something creative we are opening up a channel to the wise, deep, more unconscious part of ourselves.
Once you have completed your art-making, find a space where you can sit quietly with your art piece, a pen and paper / a journal.
Close your eyes for a moment and take a few deep breaths. Relax your body.
Imagine that you are replaying a movie: In your mind’s eye: recall the meditation and anything that came up for you regarding Vitality. Then, see yourself embarking on your art-making process: what you did, how you began, what you felt etc.
When you are ready, open your eyes and gaze at your art piece. Look with curiosity, perhaps imagining that this art piece was made by another’s hand. It’s important here to let go of all judgement and criticism. Engage with this piece as if it were someone you were intrigued by and wanted to get to know better.
Now, activating your imagination, pretend that you are actually entering the art piece. Step into the image, and feel its energy, its mood, its space. Imagine it has a history, and that it has a voice.
As the observer of the art piece, I want you to ask some questions. And from the voice within the art piece, you answer.
So! We begin with the question: Who are you?
Write the words I Am the One Who… and go on from there, describing yourself as if you were the art work – where you are, what you are doing, giving little descriptions … Stay with the true voice of the piece, with its energy. Continue this process until you feel as if you have run out of things to say. Start each new sentence the same way, like a mantra: I Am the One Who…
Continue this exercise with the following questions:
What do you have to give me? I give you …
What do you want from me? or What do you need from me? I want / need you to …
Is there anything else you want to tell me today?
ON VITALITY …
The LDP Week #1 art immersion focusses on VITALITY. As you look at your art work consider these questions:
What makes you feel Alive?
What excites you and pulls you forward into life?
What does a vital body feel like for you?
What does a vital mind look like?
What do you pour into your Vitality bucket to fill it up?
What can you do on a regular basis to top up your Vitality bucket?
Well done for completing Heart Art’s LDP #1!
How did it go? What came up for you? How did you enjoy the creative process? Did you gain any clarity on what to focus on to live a vital life?
I’d love to hear from you and see what you created! Please join me in my Heart Art group on Facebook :-)
